In my opinion, February’s cookie ought to involve cherries. I found two that look promising at MarthaStewart.com, but I can’t decide which I’d rather make: Chewy Cherry Chunk Cookies or Cornmeal-Cherry Cookies. My initial inclination is to go for the Chocolate Cherry Chunks, but there’s something intriguing about the cornmeal cookies.

We had a catastrophic event on butterscotchsundae.com, and it caused us to lose a whole bunch of comments. I saved them for this post, though! And here they are, in one big list…

I think the Chocolate Cherry Chunk. I’m weird about texture, and I just can’t imagine the cornmeal cookies. But the two words “chocolate” and “chunk” together in the name of a recipe is enough to recommend it to me!

I love Cherry flavored craisins- and this recipe is always on the back. I still have not had a chance to try it yet- but the website gives it 5 stars…

I’m not one to turn down free cookies, no matter what kind they were. But I would go for the Chewy Cherry Chunk Cookies.

Now, Alex, this sort of thing is why you’re not in the cookie club. You must respect the cookie club.

Go with the Cherry Chunk–cornmeal belongs in tamales.

Make the Chewy Cherry Chunk Cookies. Don’t mess with perfection. I tried a poundcake with cornmeal as one of the ingredients, and we did not like the texture. However, the dogs liked it.

my vote (which, as always, comes fashionably almost-late) is for the cornmeal cherry cookies…with some chocolate chunks thrown in for good measure. the cornmeal recipe says the cookies are not-too-sweet, but i imagine the cherries balance that out…as long as your heart’s not set on not-too-sweet, can you imagine the boost the chocolate chunks would give?? 😀

OK, by far you have to do the chewy cherry chunk… I believe cookies MUST have nuts. I am a little bit inspired – may have to try this out!! Would have liked to see a picture of them but I guess that would be good since what I make almost never looks like the picture – especially on Martha’s sites. Those people are magicians.
