TV on my time

Works for Me Wednesday

We’ve had a Netflix membership on and off for a few years. It’s fun to get a DVD in the mailbox, and the no-late-fees policy is great for people who have trouble returning movies on time.

Until recently, our queue has mainly been made up of movies. A few months ago, though, we replaced the movies almost entirely with TV shows. It started with “Doctor Who.” The new episodes were being broadcast on BBC, which wasn’t part of our cable package. Rockford was heartbroken. A quick search on Netflix proved fruitful, though, and soon we were watching the Doctor’s adventures on our own schedule.

Now our queue is filled with TV shows. Some are on channels we don’t have, while others are shows we’d heard about and never tuned in to watch. Watching TV via Netflix works for me because it’s sort of a delayed instant gratification. We have to wait for the discs to arrive, but then we can watch three episodes in a row!
