Back when I was scrapbooking, I decided it would be fun to take a favorites survey of the family members at the end of each year. Even though I’m on an unplanned scrapbooking hiatus, I went forward with the survey today. And I’m glad I did, because I’ll have it recorded here at the very least. I don’t think I published last year’s survey results, so I’ll share them here.
Favorite show
Last year, Rockford’s favorite show was “Battlestar Galactica.” This year, it’s “Friday Night Lights.”
Last year, Poppy’s favorite was “Follow That Bird.” This year, it’s “Word Girl.”
We had to guess what Petey’s favorites were last year, and our TV show guess was “Sesame Street.” This year he’s joined the speaking crowd, and he tells me his favorite show is “Curious George.
Favorite food
Rockford’s favorite last year was pulled pork barbecue. This year, he said, “Yes.” I guess he’s become less discerning.
Poppy’s favorite food last year was the veggie sausage link. She still loves them, but apparently spaghetti has taken over the top spot.
Last year, Pete loved bananas. This year, though, he’s proving that he is his father’s son. “Food is good” was his answer.
Favorite drink
Rockford was a fan of Cranberry Sierra Mist last year. This year, it’s coffee. Must’ve been a hard year.
Last year was the Year of Milk for Poppy. This year she said water was her favorite. I’m not sure I’m buying it.
Pete’s favorite was milk last year, too. I would’ve guessed milk again this year, but he says orange juice is his favorite. That could have been because he was asking for orange juice when the survey was under way.
Favorite song
Last year, Rockford chose the dare-I-say obscure “Fake Empire” by The National. This year he continues to go outside the Top 40 with “Duk Koo Kim” by Sun Kil Moon. (It kind of looks like Petey typed that, doesn’t it? But he didn’t. It’s a real song.)
Poppy’s favorite song last year was “Rockin’ Me.” This year she went with a more traditional preschooler choice: “Peace Like a River” by Elizabeth Mitchell.
We guessed last year that Pete’s favorite song was the ABC song. This year, it’s the “Curious George” theme song.
Favorite book
Rockford’s favorite last year was “Dune” by Frank Herbert. This year it’s “Blood Meridian” by Cormac McCarthy.
Poppy’s favorite book last year was “Big Bird Goes to the Circus.” This year, it’s “Little House in the Big Woods.”
We didn’t list anything last year for Pete, but this year he chose “Curious George.” (I’m noticing a theme.)
Favorite game
Rockford. Last year: “Rock Band.” This year: golf and “Rock Band.”
Poppy. Last year: “Mario Kart” and “Pengaloo.” This year: “Chutes and Ladders.”
Pete. Last year: n/a. This year: Peanut butter sandwich.
Favorite restaurant
This was the first year for this category. Rockford and Poppy both chose Local Barbecue Restaurant, while Pete chose the altogether-too-adorable “Mommy’s table” as his favorite place to eat. Pete wins.
(I made an Amazon page with a good bit of this stuff, if you’d like to learn more about any of it.)
