Sheltered

Remember what I said the other day?

In my ideal world, we would find a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house with a garage, a finished basement and a large, fenced backyard. Oh, and a beautiful, functional kitchen. And it would be within walking distance of to the library and grocery store. In the real world, I’d like to find a house with at least 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and a yard that (a) doesn’t sit in front of four lanes of traffic and (b) isn’t a ravine.

The house we found isn’t the house from my ideal world, but it does have 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. It’s on a very quiet street, and it has a yard. A very, very steep yard that the children will probably spend their days rolling down. But it’s a yard! And a house!

The people who own the house lived there for a very short time before a job transfer took them to another state. They’re so amenable to us making the house “our own” that it sort of worries me. Maybe they’re not actually that nice. Maybe they’re planning to bury us in the crawlspace.

I hope they at least wait until I’ve had a chance to use the super-nice appliances in the kitchen.
