Something about this story just breaks my heart. The Washington Post arranged for Joshua Bell, one of the world’s best violinists, to play for about an hour in a D.C. metro station. The results of their experiment are interesting. Out of more than 1,000 people, fewer than 40 stopped to listen.
I didn’t know who Bell was before I read the story, and I’ll admit that had I walked through the station that day, I probably wouldn’t have stopped. I think that’s what makes me so sad.
