Today I woke up at 6am and then spent six hours in a school cafeteria while Pete competed in his first chess tournament. One of his games was a tie, one was a buy and two were losses. He had a blast, and I read Truman Capote’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” I’ve never seen the movie, but they must have changed the story and the Holly Golightly character significantly. I didn’t find her winsome and wonderful at all. Or maybe I have the completely wrong idea of what the movie is about.
I dropped a bowl of ice cream on one of my toes yesterday — losing all of the ice cream in the process — and at the time I thought it was broken. It bled a lot and throbbed all night. It’s hurting less this evening, but I wasn’t able to stay off of it as much as I probably should’ve today. I’m pretty sure my toenail is going to fall off. That’ll be a new experience for me.
I’m tired and my laptop battery is about to die, so I’m going to post this old-school brain dump of a post and cozy up with an episode of “The Crown.”
