Have you seen the ad where the family can’t put together a meal at the grocery store for $10? So they go to KFC? An Iowa City chef took it as a challenge and wrote about it at Grist.
The last time we ran into a rainy-day slide problem, Poppy dried it off with her bottom. This is a better plan.

Thanks for the links, Nichole! I really liked the quote from Grist:
“In America, if we are what we eat, most of us are fast, cheap, and easy. We should aspire to be more, and gathering the family around the table is the best way I know how.”
I also really enjoyed the article from Newsweek. I look forward to reading the others also! I think that while I disagree with a lot of his policies, I like him. It should be interesting to see what happens!
I have been annoyed with that KFC commercial since the first time I saw it. The idea that you can’t feed a family of four from the grocery store for less than $10 is ridiculous. I’d say for our family of three, most of our meals are under $3. It’s just dumb.
I was ticked off by that commercial, too! Any family that thinks they can’t eat waaaay cheaper than fast food has never heard the words “rice” and “beans”. The most annoying thing is that you can eat healthier for cheaper! I like the link given for the article about KFC’s name change: we’ll take “fried” out of our name and no one will notice that our food is unhealthy anymore (despite the images of battered chicken and buttered biscuits all over our commercials). How gullible we have become.
