I put Poppy down for her nap about 20 minutes ago. She spent about five minutes wailing, and then I thought she’d fallen asleep. But then a steady stream of chatter started. I can’t understand most of it, because I can’t hear her very well from downstairs. But some of it comes across loud and clear.
Hi cow. Hi daddy. Hi mommy. A show! Hi show.
Do a piggy dance. Do piggy dance!
I see Ojo.
Piggy piggy piggy piggy. How ’bout piggy?
See “Old MacDonald.” See “Old MacDonald”!
No no no no no. No, piggy. No, cow. No, piggy.
She hasn’t been napping very well this week. I figure I’ll give it another 20 minutes or so before I spring her.
I love it! Baby chatter always makes me smile. My friend Toni has a five year old, and when she was three-ish, this was the most common chatter coming from her room while she was supposed to napping, playing with her stuffed animals…
“Grrr, kitty….my puppy’s gonna get you! Grr!! Arf, Arf, WOOF, WOOF, I’ve got you, kitty, and will take your head off!” Not entirely sure where she picked it all up from, but funny, nonetheless.
That’s the best baby chatter ever. A little on the creepy side, but also hilarious.
