Anarchy in my town

So it goes.

Last night, here in our city (which Nichole tells me I can’t name for security reasons), the craziness over the hunt for gasoline hit a new low.

At one gas station, Person A cut in front of Person B, so Person B shot Person A.

At another station, Person C beat up Person D with a baseball bat over who was next in line for fuel.

At a third station, Persons E through J were all in car accidents because they parked in the highway waiting for the fuel truck to arrive at the station.

And at a final station, Person K (whose car broke down) was given a ride by Person L to the station but Attendent A wouldn’t let Person K fill their 1-gallon tank because only one person from each vehicle could buy fuel.

So it goes.

I feel like Bruce Springsteen should write a song about this situation…

A cry for help

From what I gather, something rather important happened on Wall Street last week. Would someone more savvy on financial matters than me please explain what it was?

(Insider’s Tip: Rockford is totally clueless on these things. You could pretty much say anything, and he’d probably believe it.)

You've got questions. I've got answers. And TP.

So, why did I get 8 rolls of toilet paper in the mail over the weekend?

A few months ago, I signed up to be a panelist for a company that does consumer surveys. Every week or so, I get a few “offers,” and if I want to fill out the survey I click over. Most of them take just a few minutes, and I earn points for each survey I complete. Those points eventually turn into cash.

Anyway, one of the most recent surveys I filled out was all about toilet paper. Things like, what’s most important to you in your TP? Strength? Softness? And so on. At the end of the survey it asked whether I’d be willing to participate in further study on the issue, and I said yes. A few weeks later? Free toilet paper! In the mail! And once we’ve used it for a few weeks, I’ll fill out another survey. Presumably about this particular TP’s performance.

If you’d like to be a panelist, leave a comment on this post. Be sure to include your name and email address, and I’ll have the survey folks send you the necessary info.
