Has it really been five days since I last popped in here? What a blog slacker. I don’t have any excuses, either. My brain seems to have been on hold this week. Let’s see if some listy-listing can get me back on track.
The timer just went off. Cross your fingers for me. If this cake falls apart, too, I’m buying a blank slate from the grocery store’s bakery.

Alright, here’s the whole story. It’s a Steely Dan concert, and it’s about 3 and a half hours from home. Rockford and his longtime cohort Don suggested that we have a family birthday party at Rockford’s parent’s house in the early afternoon, then leave the children with his parents and flit off to the show. As you may guess from the mildly biased poll choices, I am not in favor of this. Not that I don’t like Steely Dan, but we have seen them live before. And a girl only turns 4 once.
It’s Ultimate Blog Party time again at 5 Minutes For Mom, which means there are lots of blogs to peruse and lots of prizes up for grabs. It also means I’m supposed to introduce myself and show you folks around a little. So crank up the soft rock — I’m listening to Billy Joel, myself — and get comfortable.
Hi. I’m Nichole. I do a little freelance writing and editing, but my main occupation is raising 3.5-year-old Poppy and 16-month-old Pete. Every now and then my husband will pop in and say something here, but he concentrates most of his energy on the kids, work, his beard and rock ‘n’ roll.
