Your prayers are needed

My Aunt Judy’s liver and kidneys are failing, and the doctors’ tests haven’t found a reason yet. She’s been in her local hospital since last week.

A few things about Aunt Judy:

  • At Christmastime, her old house always smelled like you’d stepped into a Norman Rockwell painting. There were cookies on every surface in the kitchen. And they were all delicious.
  • She’s exceptionally huggable, like a favorite pillow.
  • She smells nice.
  • She and Uncle Dave were high school sweethearts. She calls him David. But she pronounces it “Davit.”
  • She has a great Midwestern accent.

They may be sending her to a bigger, farther-from-home facility soon. Please pray for her comfort and recovery and for peace of mind for her husband and kids.

  • Prayers for Ashlyn

My sister-in-law just posted an update about the daughter of one of her best friends. Ashlyn is being treated for AML Leukemia, and she’s in the ICU today. She and her family could use your prayers and positive thoughts.

(Ashlyn) just turned 10 years old last week and has been amazingly strong these last several months. … Today she’s had some complications that resulted in her being placed into the ICU. Please pray for her and for her family as she continues to fight this disease. If you would like to leave her a message of encouragement, please go to the Caringbridge website. … I know that her parents read her all the messages left on her site, and that your prayers are needed and much appreciated.

    Prayers needed

My sister-in-law emailed the following to me this morning:

Late last night, one of my closest friend’s daughters was diagnosed with Leukemia. Jake and Kelly’s oldest daughter, Ashlyn, has been just a little off for a few weeks. Jake wanted Kelly to take her to the pediatrician and I encouraged her to ask for a complete blood work up. Foolishly, on my part, thinking that it might reveal a vitamin deficiency or anemia or something. The family will get more information today about the nature of the illness (form) and what to expect in the coming days. Ashlyn has been admitted to the hospital and will remain there for several days.

Please pray for strength for their family, especially Jake and Kelly, and for God’s hand in healing Ashlyn and making her more comfortable.
