I will be watching “The Nutcracker” five times this season

It’s “Nutcracker” week. Poppy and her friends at the ballet studio have been preparing for this week for months, and she is so excited for things to get underway already. Me? ‘ll be putting my head down, chanting “keep it together, keep it together, keep it together” and just trying to get to Saturday. I can’t imagine how much this would all stress me out if I was actually in the show. All I have to do is get my properly attired dancer to the theater on time. And in order to make that happen, I had to do some ultra-simple meals this week. (As if I ever do anything else. But anyway.)

Monday: Chicken and dumplings

I’ve been using Campbell’s Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings recipe, and it’s dependably tasty. I use a can of cream of mushroom and a can of cream of celery in place of the two cans of cream of chicken soup, because the cream of chicken squigs me out a little.

Tuesday: Tacos

I’m hoping to get the ratio right on my seasoning this week so we don’t burn our taste buds off again. Taco Tuesday!

Wednesday: Tacos redux

I may be surreptitiously eating peanuts in the audience, but those members of the clan who aren’t at “The Nutcracker” will be feasting on leftover tacos.

Thursday: Ham & cheese sandwiches

Another night of “The Nutcracker” = another simple meal.

Friday: Pizza

I’ll either be eating out or ordering in to celebrate Surviving the Week.

I miss the green bean casserole

After last week’s 24/7 Non Stop Food-a-Thon, I should probably have planned to have some variation on Lettuce every night for dinner this week. I don’t think that would go over well with any of us, though — myself included — so we have a rather normal-for-us plan this week. Some might even call it Falling Back Into Our Regular Rut, but we’re going to be OK with that for now.

We might not have any pie (or mashed potatoes or persimmon pudding) this week, but my mom is visiting for a few days. Which means all of our laundry is clean and folded. Miracles do happen!

Monday: Baked ravioli

This was one of Poppy’s favorite meals right up until she saw it on this week’s calendar. And then she was all like “ugghhewwwww,” and I was all like “Whaaaa!?!” and she was all like “ugh.” I’m hoping she doesn’t do that again when I put her plate in front of her this evening

Tuesday: McAlisters

Three cheers for free kids meals!

Wednesday: Sandwiches

It’s Poppy’s week for kids’ choice night. This’ll most likely be some variation on the grilled cheese.

Thursday: Fish sticks & mac ‘n’ cheese

A far cry from last Thursday’s meal.

Friday: Pizza

We made our own pizza last Friday, and it was great. I think we may be getting back into the DIY pizza groove.

Monday: Chicken & dumplings

I’m going to try to go to a Pilates class this evening, and it doesn’t end until 6pm. So CrockPot meal it is!

Tuesday: ?

We’re going to be having dinner with my in-laws, and I’m not sure what they’re planning.

Wednesday: Baked ravioli

I’ll be making some green bean casserole, rolls and an apple upside-down cake on Wednesday, so I wanted to make something easy for dinner. It doesn’t get much easier than this.

Thursday: Thanksgiving!

I believe ham will be the main dish.

Friday: Thanksgiving leftovers

I think Rockford likes Day Two even more than the actual Thanksgiving dinner.
