Rockford was out at a fancy-pants dinner until seconds ago, so I didn’t really hear David Archuleta or Carly. I did hear that Little David sang something about dreams and believing (of course), and Carly sang a Nillson song that Mariah Carey apparently covered. That’s right: It’s Mariah night! Because her album of Einstein covers is out today!
Syesha is very shiny this evening, and she’s singing something I don’t know. That’ll probably be the order of the night.
Of course, it would be easier to know whether or not that was true if I’d actually seen the performances rather than chased a toddler around the house. I missed from mid-Syesha to Kristy Lee Cook, who’s singing “Forever.” Which, predictably, I’ve never heard. Or maybe I have heard it. It’s hard to tell. She’s doing a pretty good job, and she’s also very shiny.
I’m looking forward to hearing David Cook’s take on Mariah. I’ve actually heard “You’ll Always Be My Baby.” It must’ve been a big hit. He’s David Cook’n it, complete with sneers and wailing. He’s also wearing a vest. Apparently he learned nothing from the Michael Johns ousting. Everybody loved David Cook (despite the vest), and then he cried. I couldn’t really hear him because there were high levels of jabbering going on up in here.
I think Mariah might have a crush on Jason Castro. She keeps playing with her hair. But I think she might always do that. He’s singing “Promises,” and his legions of young girl fans are going to *heart* this performance. And it was good. I never would have guessed it was a Mariah Carey cover.
I don’t like it so much when the show gets down to this few people. It always shocks me when they do the wrap up after only seven people. My guess on who’s going home this week is going to have to based pretty much on the recaps. I’m putting Syesha, David Archuleta and Kristy Lee Cook in the bottom three, and I’ll say Syesha’s going home.
