It should not come as a surprise that I am a fan of Videos of Cats on the Internet. I’d successfully hidden that from the kids until last week, though, which meant that I could watch Cat Videos on my time. Now I have to field the “Can we watch the funny kitties?” requests at least twice an hour. If you’re here, chances are you’re a fan of Cat Videos, too. So the children and I watched a whole bunch of them, chose our five favorites and compiled them here for you. You’re welcome.

This is the one that started it all. For us, anyway. I love the sound editing; the kids love the “scared cat.” “Why is he so scared? Does he think the apples will get him?” I don’t know the answer to either, but I hope the little guy has found some measure of calm.

A cat who slipped

I found this one equal parts amusing and cruel. If Marsha T. Cat cared about lasers, I would probably do this. But she doesn’t. Marsha T. is like a honey badger in that respect.

Cats who don’t know they’re cats are my favorite. Pete didn’t think it was very funny, though, and when I asked him what we should call it he said “Pherano.” I don’t know what that means. I think he might have inherited his father’s lack of enthusiasm for cat videos.
