I’ve submitted a couple of posts for syndication at BlogHer in the past, but they’ve never been interested in any of my stuff. It’s been quite a while since I’ve submitted anything, so I was surprised and excited a few weeks ago to get an out-of-the-blue email from BlogHer asking if they could syndicate the post I wrote about blogging after the Type-A Conference on their site. And I didn’t even submit it! Maybe the secret is playing hard to get.
You can read the slightly retitled post on BlogHer at “Why Should I Keep Blogging with Low Stats?“
I just read the post and had to come say hello! I’ve been blogging for almost a year now and sometimes I look at other blogs and how successful they are and I wonder what the heck I’m doing wrong. Or why I’m doing it at all. But I always come back to the exact reasons you listed. It’s not about the stats. It’s about connecting, and I know for sure I’m doing that. So I’ll keep at, stats be darned!
Greetings from a new blogger! What a lovely post, a great sentiment, and a totally inspirational message. Sure sounds like your blog is a rousing success – a platform for maintaining and creating relationships. I hope my experience is as good!
Thank you so much for your post. I came here, looking for writing prompts on BlogHer. I don’t like the interface of that site, but today it brought me yours and it came so right on time!
One of the main things I struggle with, is posting regularly. And that’s mostly, because I don’t really have a purpose, other than the writing itself. But then again, I’m hooked at reading other blogs and any view/reaction makes my day. I simple diary at home just doesn’t cut it anymore.
How do you ‘commit’ to posting?
There are a few things that I post regularly, like the weekly menu plan on Monday and, lately, a homeschooling wrap-up on Friday. I’ve been trying to keep an editorial calendar, too, so I can more easily see what I have coming up. Once I get into the habit of posting every couple of days it gets easier to stay in the habit. There’s an excellent post at Type-A Parent that addresses this very question: “Blog Editorial Calendar Tutorial.”
